Does God choose our careers?
God certainly can indicate supernaturally which job or career path we should pursue. At times, he may choose to do so. More typically, however, he calls us to take responsibility for making good decisions about how to use our gifts in the world. Paul did receive divine guidance, but he and others also made decisions.
How do I ask God for career guidance?
Almighty and Everlasting God, I pray that You put me in the right direction as I search for a career. Please align me with Your plan. Fill me with the values and convictions that will equip me for this career. When I feel doubtful or lost on this career journey, I pray that You remind me of Your never-ending presence.
What does the Bible say about career goals?
Proverbs 16:9 “In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.” Proverbs 19:21 “Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.” Proverbs 21:5 “The plans of the diligent lead to profit as surely as haste leads to poverty.”
What career should a Christian have?
Clergy. An obvious career choice for a Christian would be the clergy, as these workers interact with and build people up in their faith. Many job titles, such as pastor, children’s minister, priest and more fall within this category.
What does God want us to do with your life?
God wants to give you a purpose. He wants to bestow divine wisdom on you. It’s not like God is holding out on you to make you miserable. He desires you to have a joyful, ambitious, purposeful life.
Does God answer prayers for jobs?
God says in Isaiah 42:8 that He will not yield His glory to another or His praise to idols. It means that He will not answer a prayer you have idolized. If He did, the glory would not go to Him but to your idol. If you want a job more than you want God, repent and yield to God’s desire for you in this season.
